i am thinking about setting up a 8 x 4 x 2 water trough pond in my backyard. the only problem is winter. i want to house a silver aro in there. would it be alright if i kept it in a 72g bowfront for the winter months? the dimensions of the bowfront are 4'x 1' x 21" (18" in the middle of the bow)

Yeah, i'm gonna have to agree with dmopar74. The silver aro would do fine for a few months in the 72 if it was around 4-6 inches, but once hes been in the pond all year long, he'd outgrow it by next winter. On top of that, transporting your giant fish every year will most likely injure it especially as it gets bigger and stronger.
So unless you can keep the arowana in the pond all year long for the rest of its life, I dont think you should get it if all you have is another 72 gallon.
