I recently recieved 8 young red texas from a fellow mkfr who got them from cjbarth. The biggest tank I have is a 60 so I've been experimenting with different ways to house the small ones. They are all between 3 and 4 inches long and in the process of fading.

So do you think its better to house them in small communities of 3 or 4 individuals in the smaller tanks or to divide all the tanks with eggcrate like breeders do so each individual can be as dominant as it wants to without fighting with other fish. Obviously I don't want them to get injured.

Which arrangement would be more helpful to the fading process? As I want to get as many reds as possible

Thanks Guys

Cjbarth how do you raise your faders? Thanks man they truly high quality fish

If they have the genetics to fade, they'll fade. You could pick the best looking of the group and put them in their own tanks or divide the tanks and give them the bigger side. Splitting up is the best idea though if you have the tanks for it.

they are about three inches and im keeping them in a bunch of divided 30 gallons for now. And the biggest ones go into 60s and 70s with parrots and convicts jacks etc my other cichlids.
I was thinking this though because I have faded lots of red devils and parrots in the past (I grow parrots pretty consistantly if anyone needs any in oklahoma btw) and have noticed that when you fade them together in large groups usually the smallest two or three don't fade until they are removed and placed in a more dominant setting. Does this go with red texas cichlids?

I've kept my last batch of RT from Chris in the same tank for a period of time before I could separate them.. The smallest ones faded first.. The second to largest one was the last one to fade.. the third and fourth largest never faded..
