Any info on keeping these guys with ray? I was leaning toward Peacock bass but am worried about long term water quality. Everything I have read about the snooks says they are pretty peaceful and they look rather impressive when they get larger. I just don't have any desire to keep gars or arowanas and want something that is not very aggressive and stands out.

If you want a peaceful, large, extremely owner responsive, interesting and attractive fish then get the snook.

They are very peaceful when it comes to cichlids (much more peaceful than peacock bass I think), and If you can keep severums with rays, I don't see why you couldn't keep snooks. The only problem is snooks are much more pigs than severums. Everytime I throw shrimp into my cichlid tank, my snook takes the first one (same with every time I feed pellets). So there might be an issue with enough food actually getting to the rays.

I've seen them in ray tanks.... makes a nice combo...

Yeah I picked up a group of them to go with rays.. but then decided that the bio-load would be just too much.. They at like pbass and get about 16"!!

does anyone have pictures of these fish that they would like to share...???

Those are very nice fish....., I was never really familiar with them. Does anyone know where these fish are native too??? thanks....

They come from the northern part of Central America. Belize, Guatemala, Mexico..

Apparently the 'red' morph is an adaptation from a particular lake that contains a large amount of red/pink bottom water lilies.

Here is the true snook.. hard to find these days. Call them 'Silver' snooks.

They are really fast and really peaceful.. reminds me alot of datnoids, ctenopoma, pbass..
