None of your business!
Today, I went to work and saw a new fish it was an adult male jaguar cichlid. I never had a male jag, but I own a female. I was thinking of breeding them?..I gave away my red bay snook's :( ..they got a little over the top..with their fry(chasing other fish). I do have 1 fry..it's with My other tank (90 gal/African cichlid) He is doing fine. But, I was thinking if a 9 inch male jaguar cichlid would be ok, living with a Dovii(8 inch, male),Red Devil(7 inch, male),Jagaur cichlid 6 1/2 inches?? Do you think he will be fine with them in a 220 gal? My dovii is a little calmer..just aggressive towards the devil..

Male jags can be quite aggresive. If he pairs off with your female jag and breeds, then you could have serious issues. Whats more likely is that your dovii will see the jag as a threat. Once dovii get to around 12" they become very aggressive towards everything, but they go comepletely insane on similar looking fish. Members of the same species and other parachromis will draw his rage.

Normally I would say that all fish are different, but that does not apply to dovii. Your dovii is still a pup, just wait. By the time he is 14" or so he could easily take that tank for himself.

Also I noticed that you said "usually pretty calm." That is the thing about dovii, at 8" an occassional hissy fit might end in a few split fins or scrathes on your other fish. At 15" that same hissy fit could leave some of your other fish dead or cowering in the top corners of the tank wishing they were dead.

i agree but ive seen MANY tanks where the jag rules!
again it depends on your fish!
my jag has personally killed EVERYTHING ive put in the tank with him.
by everything i mean all the CA cichlids my lfs has to offer which where bigger than him!
it might work or it might not!
if the male takes a liking to your female say bye bye dovi
but I think its worth a try

You had your mine made up already, thats cool. It is your tank. Suffice it to say, hoping does not help when it comes to cichlids. Good luck.
