I'm a teacher and have two tanks in my class - one with gouramis and one with assorted tropicals like swordtails, tetras, etc...

My prinicpal said I have to bring them all home with me. I have a tank at home but am concerned about putting them together. Will my pearl gouramis eat my other fish?

If all you have are pearl gouramis, you should be fine. They are generally much more peaceful than the blue and gold varieties :). What kind of tetras do you have?

To be honest I'm not even sure what kind of tetras! Little red guys that I've had for ages. I have two adult pearls (my favorite fish) and two little goldens like this:

Guess I'll just plop em all in and pray for the best!

Heres the list of the fish that will be in my 30 gallon during the summer:

2 Pearl Gouramis
2 Gold Gouramis
1 Beta
2 Swordtails
2 Mollies
2 Small Tetras
3 Neons
2 Cory Cats

That doesnt sound too bad, just keep an eye on the tetras, and keep some caves plants(fake or real) for them to get away from any bullys and think you will be fine.

The gold variety is still similar to blue so there is still a chance they may harass their other tankmates. Males often are more snippy. The pearls are fine. They're one of the most docile species of gouramis.

Could you please take pics of the tetras? Search for glowlight, beacon, neon, cardinal, red-eye, diamond, black widow, silver-tipped, x-ray, black phantom, red phantom and bloodfin tetras on google. This might help. Those are usually available around the shops and any of these may likely be what your tetras are.
