So I have a 6x3x3 1 inch thick acrylic tank it didnt have a blemish on it when I bought it. I thought It was a great Idea several months ago to add pool filter sand.....Since then its been hard to clean algae especially near the bottom of the tank without scratching the thing...I am fed up with new scratch after new scratch showing up....What should I do to remove it? The conventional plastic dustpan wont work because of how deep the tank is my arms cannot reach....and Im not sure my arms can reach with a siphon hose either....I would hate to have to take 75% of the water out and have to get in there and stress my fish out any ideas?

Maybe not the best way but with something that big and so much sand I would drain all the water put the fish in it, then Use a shop vac to remove every bit of the sand. The problem with any other way is it takes so long and it seems almost impossible to remove all the sand.

I carefully scoot the sand away from the front before I remove algae then move the sand back. No scratches that way

How deep is your tank? Can't possibly scoot sand around safely in a 3 foot deep tank...unless you have some very long arms lol
