A friend of mine just got 2 Jaguars from snookn21 and turns out they were both males and this one took a good beating. So I took him in to see if I can heal him up and maybe him and my oscar can live together in the big tank im building. Do you guys think this guy will ever have normal fins again?

I personally think those will heal up. Up the temp to 82 and add some more cichlid salt. Couple weeks, maybe a couple months and he will be good to go.

I agree, while although it looks bad now fins generally grow back unless the whole ray is gone and you are down to the "stub", his chances are high IMO of having normal fins unless there's something I'm not seeing.

thats good. i plan on keeping him either way. seeing as where he came from i expect it to be a quality fish and was hoping he wouldnt be permanently scarred.

I'd say in 2 weeks or so if it's not healed up, it'll be very close. I've had a couple of mine get roughed up and within a couple weeks they're fine.

My jag ate one of my small carpintis I was growing out I put them in the same tank because I just knew they were way to big to fit in the jags mouth. Turns out I was right, it got stuck in my jags mouth, and naturally the other fish wanted what he was eating so they beat on him relentlessly. He was beat up way worse than yours and in about 2 weeks he made a full recovery and is much less aggressive now, lol clean water is key and no other aggression from tank mates

this one seems to be pretty docile right now. hopefully him and my oscar can coexist in my large tank im building.

He should be fine. I have experienced beat up fins a few times, too. Aquarium salt and up the temp a few degrees for a week or so. They are more beat up than the fins I have had, I would say more like 4 weeks and he should near perfect again. His only scar will be the memory of getting his butt handed to him when he was a youngin, lol.

Very nice rescue.

Thanks, seeing as how he came from John I believe this will be a very beautiful fish. I guess we will see with time. I will definitely keep pics of him on here as he grows.
