Hi,
Recently picked up a used 300 gallon Tenecor tank (96x24x30, .5" acrylic sides, bottom and brace), which seems to have been made well before they closed their doors (based on how long the previous owner had it). Tank holds water, but I have been reading quite a few threads that have be stressing about the tank.

1. Tank thickness.
Read posts where people swear that .75" is the minimum thickness for such a deep tank, others say it's fine and they have been running .5" for years with no problems. This tank has been run by the previous owner with no issues so I guess .5" can get me by, but if I did it again I should look into 1" for security. I did not measure how much the bow was before it was delivered, but it did not seem to significant when I inspected it before purchase.

2. Crazing.
This has me most worried, the panels themselves do not have crazing in the middle of them, however there is some in the seems. I am not sure if this is significant amount and if I should worry about a seam busting. Photos are attached of the seam on the sides of the front panel.

Please let me know what you think.

Crazing looks very mild to me, I wouldn't worry about it.

.5" should be fine.... the tank will probably bow noticably, but I don't think there's any risk of catastrophic failure.

The acrylic looks very nice and clear from the overall pictures. Seems like a solid setup.

keep in mind that's an entire one piece brace so it's definitely structurally sound. Don't worry about it

tank looks to be a 10/10 in my book... maybe a 9/10 being built in half inch, but i agree its more than fine and looks to be quite new. These standard 300's are often built in 1/2" and also 3/4". Sure the 1/2" ones bow a bit but nothing 2 lose sleep over.

Thanks for the input guys, I feel a lot more confident about filling it up now!

The taw will in fact bow like mad, but it should hold just fine. I had the exact same measurements on my 300. It was 12+ yrs old when I bought it.
