I am buying a new TSN and want to know what the best way to transport it home without it becoming too stressed.

I recently saw a German video where they transported a TSN wraped in a towel and then placed in the water. I think this was so the fish would not splash and thrash about during tranportation.

What worked for TSN owners? My new fish is 40cm.

Very carefully! ;)

There are some good articles on here, the options include sedating the fish, and you could probably transport a few different ways, maybe try to PM some of the members with bigger fish that have articles posted?
Good luck!

Good luck friend! Your getting it at that size? Does that not kill some of the fun? surely a LARGE fish box and a coupla valium wouls surfice ha ha

Large camp cooler.

Fill it with water as it sits in your car. DO NOT try to lift the cooler full of water or you will need hernia surgery after this is done.

When the cooler is 2/3 -3/4 full, add the fishie and shut the lid. Latch the lid. Place heavy rock on the lid. Drive home.

Its dark, its insulated, its sturdy and its big enough.

When you get home if the fish needs to spend more than an hour in there waiting for you to make final preparations, do a water change of the cooler. The water change will help with acclimation too. (Remember that there is a drain plug on the cooler.)

Wrap the fish in a t-shirt or pillow case to pick it up to put it in the cooler and to take it from the cooler to the tank.

With it only being around 16" you can just transport it in a 18gallon tub. or any tube that is large enough that he will just fit into. He's not really large enough to cause much problems. Just put some water in the tub and the fish in the tub and a top on the tub. If you have a LONG drive home then cut a small hole in the top of the tub and add a battery powered air pump.
