Hey guys i know that they develope a lump on their head in mating but how long (in inches) are they usually when they mate? Because i have two mono pbass and they are like 9 inches each. and sorry for posting something about breeding in this forum i already posted this in the breeding section and no answer so i figured i would get a faster answer here.

What I just said 9" is too small I believe and I dint think they will spawn in overstocked tank cause last time I checked it had a couple 8" bass a payara a gar and a vulture cat all about 8-9" if not bigger

Most cichla can breed at a year old, with only the Tem being an exception to that. Tems don't breed until they hit three years old.
About a foot for
Monos/occels...ive seen a pair as small as 9 inches a few years back...it just really depends on how mature the fish are...but it seems likethe captive bred ones hit maturity alot earlier than the wilds
