I have a brown spotted grouper that was sold to me as a leopard grouper and told it would only get 1' long. I have it in a 150g tank. I thought it was a red hind grouper because they look similar, but mine looks exactly like this. How big do they get and what tank size would they need?

2.5ish feet long, tank size... well thats up to debate... depends on how active the fish is and how much you actually want it to be able to swim... but something over 400gal likely.

Do you know how big in captivity?

In captivity, under good conditions, most fish will reach their maximum size or sometimes bigger... if they don't your keeping them in to small of a system or not feeding enough or something else.

Its actually not a brown spotted, its a dwarf spotted or honeycomb grouper. I just found out, because the juvis look the same. They only get about 1', so I can keep him:)
