How big do midases have to be to breed?

Easely.

Introdude the male with a divider at first, so they can get used to each other.

It is possible for them to breed through a divider, but it takes alot longer.

Warm waters, lots of dithers, should trigger them going into spawning mode, once they have gotten to know each other.

Agreed. Also, try getting some fresh earthworms they always get my cichlids wanting to breed.
