How big do neon jewel cichlids grow?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The neon jewel is a bit nebulous, because a species of Hemichromis might be called neon Jewel in Massachusetts, or might be a different species in Texas, or Mexico, or Australia.
There are at least 15 species of Hemichromis, all considered jewel cichlids and they range from 4" to almost 12".
The scientific name of the species such as H. cristatus, guttatus, or cerogaster or etc, etc (up to 15), would help narrow it down, because different species reach different sizes.
That said most commonly sold jewels hover in the 3"-5" range.
