Real snooks are family Centropomidae, which includes some monster fish. "Snook" cichlids were named because of their resemblance. Easy way to differentiate between the two, cichlids have a single dorsal fin, while snook have two. The Nile perch and the barramundi are both examples of true snook.

Baysnooks rarely reach 20" i have a breeding pair, male 13" and female 8", and 8 young at 3" the young are quite slow growers even with plenty of food.
