I used to be into cichla as some of you remember. Had to take all of my tanks down due to health issues and such. Anyways I'm saving up for a big tank at my dads house. I was thinking 150/180+. But I don't necessarily want to buy big bass. Would that be too big of a tank for a group of say 6 cichla at 2-3"? Along with a baby datnoid and a silver aro? All fairly the same size? Don't want to have to upgrade as goes but I think I might have to. Any opinions are appreciated

The silver aro will grow faster then the rest and will start to crowed the tank within 18 months to 2 years.

In my opinion there is no 6 peacock bass that u could house longterm. Kelberi would be your best bet. But mine is about 12" after 2 years. 6 of them would make a 180 look pretty crowded.

I didn't mean for life, I'm sorry if you misunderstood. I meant as the starter tank. I've always started out at 20-55-75 so on and so forth. But I would much rather skip having to go tank to tank after they outgrow those. I just want something that j can start out in that'll last me a little longer then all the rest of the tanks

It's more then enough to grow out what you mentioned. I would look at a 2 year max time frame.

That's more then enough time for me to get a bigger tank :D I just hated having to switch tanks like every other month and I feel like starting off bigger is the way to go
