Okay, I've got a 240 waiting in the carport, and I've decided to go ahead and try this mix.
Oscar
Male JD
2 Common plecs
Sailfin gibby

The Oscar and two commons are OK together, it's adding the JD that makes me nervous.
Also, adding a 3rd large plec to a 7 foot tank makes me a little nervous...

BUT I"M GONNA TRY IT!

I need to know,

How big of a sump would y'all suggest, and what other filtration is recommended??

I have decent filtration expertise, but my biggest tanks are only 125's. I also know absolutely nothing about sumps. So I need help.
Please?

I have a 55g tank that I turned into a filter for my 300 and it's more than enough. I would run 1 wet/dry with 2 pumps and call it a day:)

So, turn a tank into a wet dry? I like it!

How about 2 x 30 gal tanks on either side for better/more even flow?
Or am I better off with one bigger one?

I'm going to use a 50 gallon rubbermaid container for my 300 sump. And a 24 gallon rubbermaid to house the scrubbies and prefilters.

You can get very creative with sumps.

:iagree:

The only limit is your imagination. (and gravity)

This is going to be fun. I like a challenge.
