As big as you want, 50,000+ will be fine. If you mean how small of a tank, a 30gal, imo, will be suffient for a pair.

I had mine in a twenty gallon, they were fine. I wouldn't go smaller though.

depends......pic 1 29 is fine.....Pic 2 however, I feel like he is gonna break my 55, 18" wide, 40 breeder would do for an adult pair.

mine are in a 25 US gallon tank and they are as happy as larry, spawning regularly

I've heard accounts of Cons spawning in 10g, however that's not really favorable. A 29 would work for a pair, and alot of people believe the same for a 20g long. I have two in a 55 by themselves, and they're doing amazing. As big as you can get is the key, don't stuff a fish in a container because it'll do "okay". Shoot for bigger so the fish can thrive, insted of just not dying.
