I have a Lima shovelnose catfish and i've read online that the minimum tank size is 180 gallons for just the catfish and nothing else. I plan on upgrading my aquarium to a 300 gallon tank just to go for gold and not have to worry about it. However I'm going to be moving in about 2 years and I don't think it would be even possible that I myself move it. I plan on getting a few chiclids when I purchase a larger aquarium. They only get about 5" to 6" long and of course my pleco. I just need an idea of how many fish I can get with what size aquarium. Example I could have a Lima shovelnose catfish and tow medium sized chiclids with a 250 gallon aquarium. Please I just want a good idea of what size I need to get and what fish.

The Lima only needs the 180 for itself and 4-5 tankmates depending on the speices...

Just get the biggest that you can afford & fit.
You won't regret it. You can always have some friends help you move it.
