ok so i bought a 200 gallon with wood stand and top for 300 bucks which is a steal! i live on the bottom floor of my condo BUT its not cement under just a ton of wood beams. i know the tank will weigh about 2000 pounds with water and rocks in it. i its 6 feet long and 2 feet wide so i think it would distribute the weight pretty well and i might even put a piece of plywood under it to distribute it even more. yes i read other posts about apartments but didn't get the answer i was looking for. thanks ahead of time. i might ask the homeowners association if i can have a water bed :P

Ask a structural engineer! It depends how the floor was constructed and the tanks placement. "A ton of wood beams" tells me nothing!

yeah i know i didn't describe it to great, i will check with the homeowners and see if they have that info and if not might just go for it. the neighbor said he wouldn't even worry about it. keep it comming tho thanks

do it

ok so i went the the pet store i always go to and one of my buddies that works there said i should be fine even with 200 gallons but i might sell its for more money and but a new 150 gallon. either way im super excited to start getting fish in it.

Think about it like this:

2,000 lbs is about equal to a college football team. do you trust your floor to hold up the weight of a football team having a huddle in your living room?

I bet it will hold. just don't blame me if everything goes to hell.

I would not even talk to the property mang. they will simply tell you no. in my opinion it is to much even for a well built floor.
However I think you could pull off the 150 gal. tank
