how big should a jag be at this age

probly genetics not all fish are woppas, idc as long as hes minimum 13 inches full grown ill be happy cuz hes only in a 125 shared with other fish
Growth can have a lot to do with water changes.
If you change 25% once per week, it's not going to grow as fast as someone who does 50% twice per week, and if you change 50% every other day, it can grow even faster.
There are some breeders that in order to promote growth will change 80%-90% per day.

I got my male in November 2012, he was only about 1" and he's only about 9-10" right now. I don't overfeed and always keep my nitrates below 20ppm, he's got a 125 all to himself. I think a lot of people get actual growth rate wrong, trying to boast/brag to make their particular fish seem more impressive. I got my jag at 1" from a LFS near me and believe mine looks much nicer than a lot of these jags that people claim to be from Rapps, Honduran, wild caught, etc.... rather have a good looking fish than a fish that's growing an extra quarter to half inch a month. They'll all get to be that size we want eventually
