how big should a jag be if you buy it at 1.5 inches and have it for a year ? im talking ideal

ok hes 9 inches measured. just makin sure cuz I had these powerful bubblers in the tank and they seemed to be stressing my fish so I turned em off for like the first time ever and everyone seems to look waaaaaay better just wanna make sure I didn't disturb any growth with stress from the bubblers. looks like I wont be turning em back on any time soon. I appreciate it STILL WOULD LIKE MORE OPINIONS THOUGH
