Huh? A mature FRT will be anywhere from 16-24" SCL.......Here's the thing with FRTs I've seen.........The FRTs grown in Stock tanks or ponds always hit that size........Aquarium raised FRTs hardly push 16"..........They tend to hit a plateau at around 10", but gain all that back within a few years if introduced in a pond, or 1000's of gallons of water......

that means you should put it in a pond not stunt it....fyi...

mine is 7+yo tank raisedand it 15in htt....

Rigth to the point, captive flys should be as big if not bigger then their wild conterparts, if they are not ataining such sizes means we need to rethink our aproaches to husbandry. A REALLY big tank for starters is needed

nice thread. i have mine going into a 240. hes 10'' now and about 7 years old. hes still slightly growing. we hope to have him in a wal-mart pop up pool this summer. thats just an idea. it seems to be a decent system for a big turtle at about 600 bucks.

The pop-up pool in warm weather is a great idea. I keep my FRTs is 6ft x 3ft individual vats during the cool/cold months. But, I let them stretch out in 650gal bins (86" diam) during late spring, summer, and early fall.
Just make sure to keep netting over them to keep predators out (raptor birds, raccoons, cats, dogs, herons, etc.).

Now THATS a great idea;) Any plans for breeding? Even if it takes some time to happen you can if you want:D

So where is everybody getting their frt's? I would love to get one but I've never seen any for sale.
