55 is fine.It will grow large by its lonesome and you can keep the pleco in there if you want.

most fish leave plecos alone since they dont bother with the tank mates food.Plecos will eat pellets and stuff but they mostly eat veg's and have an armor on them so fish will nip them from time to time and then realize the pleco doesnt fight back aggressively and just defends itself. so fish will just tolerate them once they know theyre no threat.However-yes its not a 100% thing that the flowerhorn will tolerate it.Dont forget-every fish is its own "fish"so to speak so you cant say all flowerhorns are intolerable to tank mates.I wouldnt suggest tank mates but a plecos just a pleco. If that makes sense. Its like-it doesnt count lol. To be safe-see how it goes.If the fh begins beating the crap outta the pleco-just take em out.

on another nore-damn I wish I was near you b/c I'd buy that fh from you on the spot.I cant find a decent sized female with pretty colors anywhere near me.I went to 3 big fish stores today that all are exotic spots and couldn't find any.close as I came was a pair but were way too small.and I dont need another male.

Not all pleco's eat vegi's. Look up a King Tiger Pleco, Queen Tiger Pleco, Zebra Pleco and the common pleco (the one in the picture). The one he has is a scavenger and is not a very good vegi eater. Beware of the pleco you have in the tank. They can be aggresive. The sucktion cup can do damage to a fish and this is talking from expierence. The only pleco's I keep in my tanks are Bristle/ Bushy nose plecos.
