how can distinguish male and female?

i want to buy a Channa aurantimaculata .but have some question:

(1)how can distinguish male and female?can u show me the male & female from Channa aurantimaculata pic?

(2) which sex is beautiful than other?

(3) which sex is bigger than ohter?

(4) how can easy to take care them,what's the precaution? and what 's the usually disease with them.

With most the channa I've seen the female is bigger, with a larger belly.

1) Male have more black stripes on the body whereas female have more yellow colour on the body. Male are mouthbrooder.
2) Male are more beautiful.

today,i feed it 8 little fish (1.5inch),i feel this snakehead are very edacity..

i afraid, it's easy to infect enteritis...what can i do.

the one sure way of sexing your auranti is by checking its top fin , i can not really show you this on photo as the blue does not show up . but in males the dorsal fin turns blue for the upper at least 10mm in females the dorsal fin only has a thin blue section approx the upper 2-4mm , you can useally see at around the 10" mark what sex it is by this method , by 12" is should be obvious , there are other indicators as allready suggested but i belive this to be the only realiable method to sex aurantis
