How can i clean the glass?

Bought a used tank and its got that white hard water crusty stuff on the outside. Was gona use CLR but dont know if its safe on silicone, and yes i know u have to be very careful not to get any in the tank. Anything else i could use?
 
Especially if it's on the inside u can spray windex on a paper towel (away from the tank) and just clean it off like a regular window.

If there's anything on the inside oxyclean works very well, and it's safe too. It doesn't leave any residue and isn't harmful as long as it's all washed off!
 
Just use the regular vinegar and a razor blade. Takes some time and effort but at least it's clean. Hope this helps.
 
Go to Lowes or Home Depot and get a 100 pack of razors and a handle. Then wipe down with vinegar let sit for a while the scrape the crap out of the tank. Avoid the silicone unless you plan to reseal.
 
vinegar works great, i've cleaned at least a dozen very bad looking tanks. some parts may need scraping or just scrub it down hard afterwards.

Yes the blade seems to help alot! Scrapes alot of that crap off. Ill just have to keep spraying and scraping and wiping and that will take care of it!! Thanks everyone!
 
i use windex but i spray it on a towel first then wipe it on and then wipe it off to make sure none gets in the tank
