How long should I leave the fry in the tank with the parents. I don't want to leave them in there because there is a hob overflow and I don't want them to get sucked into the wet dry? They are in a 90 gallon right now. I want to grown them out in a 10 gallon for now.

leave them in for a week or so till they get some size on them, than net them and put them in a 10gallon tank with a sponge filter. ( make sure to use the water from the main tank )

If you're worried about fry being dumped into the overflow, you can fit some fine mesh (e.g. pantyhose, mesh media bag, etc.) in front of the overflow "slots".

Congrats on the successful spawn! Are you going for a stable SRT line?

Yeah I guess, I have some fine mess like for screen doors but its made of plastic. I was thinking about setting the ten gallon with a sponge filter or a aquaclear 30. Should just put the sponge filter in the wet dry now to let the bacteria form on there now?

What if I put one hydro sponge 5 filter (i have it running in another tank with a powerhead on the top) in there now and i stopped the wet dry?

I wouldn't want to risk killing off the bio-filter by turning off the sump. That could send you into a mini-cycle. Especially if the sponge isn't as "mature" as the sump.

Personally, I think the screen is the way to go for now.

Tossing the other sponge into your sump is a great idea for prepping the 10g. While you're at it, you might as well toss some aqua clear bio-media in there too. (unless, of course, you're planning to only do mech with the AC.)

You could also try netting them out with a brine shrimp net. What do newly hatched fry eat? BBS, infusoria, hikari first bites? (I really don't know....)

Everyone I know including myself take the eggs out even before they hatch. I put the whole pan of eggs in a bucket that is already in the tank(so the egg never touches the air) and move to the 10 gallon. But yea, you can take out the frys right now if you want. Just make sure you fill that 10 gallon with the water from that 90 gallon and set the heater temp same as the 90 gallon. Keep us updated on the frys, you might get some nice srts out of them =)

Just from experience its easier to move the parents than the babies. The babies are so fragile that usually many of them will die after a move. I ended up moving the parents and placing a sponge over the large filters and had great success.
