Recently there has been a flood of reasonably priced baby Indos at the LFS. So far i have been able to resist because I know my 100g may not be sufficient once (IF) my current Dats reach adulthood.

8: Indos 3"
2: NTTs 6"
1 AT 4",
1: NGT 7".

The problem is.... Dats grow so very slowly and looking at my seemingly empty tank, I find it harder and harder resisting the temptation to get more Dats. :D Any suggestions?

You have 12 dats in a 100g....dood, they'll never reach adulthood like that, you're going to be way over stocked when they get bigger.

I noticed that my Dats all like to hide, especially if there are only Dats in the tank. I suggest getting a Dither fish to draw them out. I had a GT with 6 Dats at one point and they were out and about all the time with the GT in the tank.

SpeshulEd >> I know... but imagine a 100g with only 4 baby 3" Dats.
I am sure I will need another tank in the future. The thing is, I don't want to need 2 new tanks in the future. :)
Its not easy to offload Dats here.

benzjamin13 >> Do you think i can add in my 2~3" Convicts? Or would they be come feeders to my 7" NGT.

You could put them in, but it's a risk. If they're leaving your 3" ITs alone, it doesn't guarantee that the Cons won't become a meal.

benzjamin13 >> Some squabbling but no real attempt to eat the smaller Dats. I started with 1 inch Indos with the 6" NGT, but 1" feeders get picked off in an instant. Dats are cool that way...

i am not too sure about other fishes in the tank though.

eh?!!!!!!

You have 8 ITs and you dont think you wont need a bigger tank already lol
Your 100 may just be big enough for 1IT to have a horrible life when it gets any kind of size around 10" never mind 8 plus the others you have,my 2.5" NTTs have grown to nearly 5" since about march and my 9" IT has grown to nearly 15" since august last year and hes over 7" deep and 2.5" wide,i think you need to tell the wife you WILL need at least one bigger tank ,which will have to be LARGE to say the least to have all that lot in so i wouldnt get any more unless you want to grow them up a bit and are able to move them on,not having a go but alot of people on here seem to think that because they grow slow they wont be a big fish for years, but they will pretty soon outgrow your 100g..

Good luck.
