How can I keep my black sand cleaner

I have a 120 Gallon Cichlid tank wit Black Tahitian sand and I am having a problem with thepoo just stilling on teh bottom and in certain areas. I do not know how I can get it off the bottom without cleaning the tank every weekend. Mabey some of you all have some ideas?

Whats your filtration? Maybe you need more, or you could add a few powerheads to move it towards the filters. If you've got a canister, try aiming the current differently.

i would say adjust the direction of water flow so that the waste gets moved off the bottom so the filters can pull it out. but even with sand you should vac it weekly just dont sift it hold it a couple inchs above the sand that way sand stays in and waste goes out.

What I do when I clean my sand is put the end of the hose in a bucket, so I can collect any sand I accidently suck up. Clean it and return to the tank.

really, its actually a pretty good idea to do a weekly water change anyway...
