Hello--

I bought a cool new fish from a ma and pa LFS when the freshwater guy was out. The marine guy couldn't tell me what kind of fish I bought, so I emailed the freshwater guy.

To make a long story longer, the fish is either a juvenile powder blue or a cobalt blue. I looked online at both fish, and not only do people post the wrong names for fish, but the two look almost identical.

I'll try to get a photo and post it, but I typically get a blur when I try to take pics of my fish. I just thought maybe someone here knew of a marked difference in the two fish. I might add that my fish has egg spots on its anal fin.

Thanks,

powder blue is Pseudotropheus socolofi
When I look at Google images under Pseudotropheus socolofi, they seem to have some black on their fins. My fish does not have any black nor stripes.

I got in touch with the freshwater guy and emailed him a pic from the Internet that looks like my fish, and he said it is a cobalt blue, but that they are the same fish as the powder blue. Anyway, he is the breeder and he said its a cobalt blue--so I'll go with that. Beats calling it my mystery fish.

Thanks,
