How can i tell a male peacock apart from a female peacock? and what size does it have to be before it is possible to tell?

haha... i have about 5 at abt 1.5 ft, but am looking for smaller ones to start a lil project

to get them (a Pair) in their own tank with room to (swim hard and fast ) <-My words
And to put a breeding area slate, sandstone...Etc.. And get my pH down around, just above or below neutral = 7.0 And wait
I was told the more room the better as it will look like they are going to KILL eachother in courting behavior.. Courting behavior can be seen on youtube in Dieselmacks vids

will try to get pics during the next feeding time but seriously doubt i will be able to get any, they hide under some shelter in the pond most of the time. am thinking of getting a new breeding pair,and watch
