Because they eat fish eggs and fry and just generally outcompete them for food. And because we (most of us) don't eat them, and they're not native to these waters.

pretty much yeah.

yup they eat all the eggs of fish same as thoes russian gobies.

Killing mass amounts of carp may help improve water quality because carp stir up the bottom so much, and may decrease the mortality of eggs of other fish, but killing the couple of carp you catch in an afternoon won't do anything. I say let the DNR handle such matters.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! i see now! thanks guys!
maybe next time ill catch a big carp, i would not release it back.

I don't think that would help. Carp have strength in numbers.

It would help. If every fisherman does his/her part and just everytime they catch a carp DO NOT release it then that is PEOPLE having strength in numbers. It is our responsibility to help out. There are many more fisherman than there are DNR. You do your part and every little bit counts. Believe me it adds up.

deyamn! how about catfishes?? theres so plenty up here too. do they eat native eggs too?

Catfish are native. Treat them like any other native. Catch and release most of the time and every once and a while eat em.
