how can u tell the difference between a mono and a occel

1.)how can u tell the difference between a mono and occel when they are at 2 inches?

2.)how can u tell the difference between a mono and occel when they are at 3 inches.

i want to buy a mono at 2-3 inches so i want to know how to identify that . it is a mono and not a occel. i can tell the difference when they r 4 inches b/c i had a mono that was 4 inches long when it died

red eyes is the easiest way, tail also has a more intense red in monos.. I also find that monos have a vertical line going from their last bar right through the tail, monos also have a black marking that goes from the first bar to the middle bar behind their pectoral fin, while ocells tend to just have a round spot there. I'm sure the others would have other ways to identify aswell..

at 3 inches they look nearly the same as at 4 inches...
so if you can tell at 4 inches you should be able to tell when 3 inches.
this is how i tell:
red eyes in ocell,the last bar is more like a rosette,more spangling in ocell(depends on the fish though),much more red in mono tails.

there are threads are a bunch of threads on i.d.ing and there is one that is quite a few pages long , i remember sharing a bit of info in there. if im not mistaking inyoface asked the question or set up a compare 2 species thread, something like that but im not positive... DO A SEARCH
