How can you make a fish tank

I was thinking of making a fish tank out of plexi glass or other material but dont now how to go about doing it. Is it possible?

I was thinking about plywood. I live in New Jersey and in the winter it gets way to cold to have an outdoor pond i was thinking like a 300 to 500 gallon indoor. would i need to buy liner or some kind of plastic?
