well after years and years of fish keeping i pulled a noob mistake today.

i forgot to turn off my heater duringa water change
and now it is fried

so the ? is can they handle 71 degrees for 24 hours till i can get to the store and get another heater?
i had a spare 50 watt heater and i through it in their but so far it is not helping

it is a 25 gal tank.
i do have a ten gal take up and running that i can move them in if i have to. i just need to get the heat up in it

help please

mike

They should be fine at that temp for 24 hours. If you have a space heater that could really help by warming up the surrounding area. Shut the door in the room and warm it up really warm in there and monitor the temp to make sure it doesn't get too warm. I have used that trick before and I actually kept my tank at like 76 pretty consistently.

Both can be kept as low as 75 F but should survive brief periods as low as 68F. You can float a plastic container of warm (90F) water in the tank to bring the temp up if needed, then wrap the tank in a blanket or towels for insulation, this with the small heater should be enough.

thanks guys will do
