how come its noisey?

Ok i have a rena filstar xP
(one of these, http://www.aquaworld.ca/usrimage/xp3.jpg)
and it was setup, about 4 hrs later (3am) it started making a loud noise and i ahve no idea why, do you ???
i did how ever add sand while it was running do you think that the sand could have become caught in the impeller?

if it sounds like a grinding noise its probably sand, if there are bubbles coming out of the other end its got air in it coming from somewhere

no no bubbles, its humming more than grinding, it sounds like when you get air in and its pumping it all out but there is no air in it.

Is it pumping water like normal or is it a lower rate

could just be air caught up around the Impeller, Ive had this happen with my old fluvals. just Tilt it to bout a 45 degree angle in various directions. if it is air around the Impeller that should get it out.

everything is fine, pumping normal etc, but after 4 hrs this noise was just there.
