NO2.
Wher are these animls from? Nation, river... ...

NO3.
This pic's flower ray has very white base.

I was told that black base is higher quality than white base.

Is it true? is it lower quality?

Does it has black base when it grow up?

Nomenclature in freshwater stingrays is terrible. The first picture is potamotrygon schroederi (true flower ray). The second is a Peruvian ray that is often generically called a flower ray. I am unaware of a scientific name for it.

The white base vs. black base you are referring to is something that someone made up.

Young or stressed flower rays are much lighter in color than their older relatives. Age and dark substrate darkens them considerably and brings out the black background and the brilliant yellow markings.

The ray pictured will be beautiful with time and a black sand substrate.

no comparison to a true flower and a peru motoro.... only thing to keep in mind is true flowers are very very delicate....

Oh~very kinds of you!!
Thank you so much!!

And I was told they are p.schrederi.
Second shot doesn't show their figure well. sorry~
Anyway I'd like to discuss the question with you if second animal is schrederi.
We can it refer as the scherederi in "AQUA LOG FRESHWATER RAYS 64P"

they are not the same the first pic is a much nicer fish than the second one but very hard to keep when small... the other is more a P.motoro varient and hardy....

Misidentification at the country of origin. Many exporters will intentionally mislabel a stingray to sell it easier.

They are 2 seperate species.. P. Schroederi is the above. The second is what they call a Peruvian Flower, sometimes mislabelled as P47 Dumerelli or a host of other misidentifications. Either way, the Peruvian Flower is likely a Motoro variant and should be treated as such.

Not sure of exact river systems.. P. Schroederi comes from the northwestern part of SA I believe, in the columbia/venezuala area.. Peruvian Flower rays come from.. Peru!

Like Colin said.. Juvie Flower rays will have flushed out colors.. Feed them good, grow them out, and put them on a dark substrate and they will look like all the other stingrays. It has nothing to do with lasting quality, but could be a sign of short-term quality. A stressed ray or sick ray could be pale, but it's very common for juvie flowers and tigers to not have much dark color.

Peru Flower below..

The Peru Flower does look very alike the motoros, I'm guessing a geographical morph?

Mix the 2 rays below, and you get a Motoro Flower?

I think their are more wild hybrids and morphs than we could imagine..
