How could this happen??!!!?

Water change Monday. Unpluged the filters from power and water is poring somwhere, i look in the back waters gushing from side of the filter. Its broken in the back, how this could happen? Anyway big question is will a eheim 2260 be enough for a sole filter on 125? I have a another smaler eheim somwhere in the basement should i use it? I dont think ill be going back to rena after this and previous incidents.

That should be plenty, although you may need a powerhead with that filter, as the flow would slow considerably in a 6ft tank.

2262 more then enough. I'd guess that the clamps broke the plastic. How? Could be anything from s pebble being caught in there or just to much force on closing.

I agree with the above my guess is the clip was closed with too much tension and the plastic snapped. The eheim would be fine on a 125. I used to run a 2217 and a 2215 on my tank. I like the idea of two filters on tank so you can completely change one out while keeping the other one going for the beneficial bacteria.

Just throw your media from the rena in the tank for a few days with an air stone under it to help the other filter catch up with the bio load and take it out bit by bit
