So just a couple hours ago I was hooking up my tank refill line... I hook it all up set the line in the water "ohh I'm excited!!" And turn on the water!!!! Wait what is that sound? Oh just my son laughing, but why? I turn the corner to see my water refill line spraying around like a snake ready to attack i mean walls, ceiling, floor, tv you name it if it's in a 15ft radius it's wet! I grab the line and get soaked my son runs up stairs to tell mommy because now he's wet, finally I convince him to hold the line so I can go around the corner and turn the h2o off, only to come back and see my 8month pregnant wife staring at me like I just ate the last cookie so hour after cleaning up my mess and a lil cooling off time she is starting to talk to me again

Share your stories so I can prove I'm not the only one

Dang
One time I was filling up the 120 from a massive water change and I forgot about it. About an hour later I hear what sounds like a slightly muffled, miniature waterfall. And thats just what I saw when I came back. Water was spilling out all over the floor. It ruined a carpet but thankfully no fish were hurt but my dad wasnt too happy.

Well my faucets are weird so I can't use a python meaning I carry 5 gallon buckets to fill my tank. Well let's just say never fill them an inch to the top or you'll be wearing the bucket when you lift it up close to your head, and also don't try to start a hose with the two hand method by yourself or you wind I soaking your living room couch like me.

One month into our brand new house I did a water change on my 150 and didn't get the filter sock installed properly. I woke up in the middle of the night to a loud pump noise coming from the living room. Went in there and there was about 60 gallons of water in the floor. Thankfully there is a slight slope to my floor and the water was running out the back door. Needless to say my wife was not happy. All of the fish survived though.

Better than all... Had a 92 gal corner tank.. 1 morning mom call me said son u have to come home now from work.. over the phone she said "ur tank is broken" so I asked details n she said what u want to my fish. I told her to place it in the bath tub temp. Got home 1.5 later and saw my tank front top to the bottom stand.. had 100 lbs of sand but I saw the filter inside the stand. Then I ran into bathroom n counted all fish but a royal pleco. As I was cleaning I found him stuck betweeen TV stand ledge. Pulled him out n he was still moving so off he goes into the bath tub... After 2 hrs without water n all fish survived but week after the pair of motoros died.

My ex girlfriend hated fish but she finally let me move a tank into the living room. 4 piranha she thought were scary but cool. One night I forgot to close a lid and the next morning as I was leaving for work one jumped out and went all over the living room and you could hear its jaws clicking. Didnt have a tank in the living room again until she was an ex.

I once bought my ex-wife a new 75 gallon set-up and fully stocked it as an birthday present to her, it didn't go over well. She apparently thought a Coach bag or something along those lines would've been a more appropriate present. The nights where especially cold that week.

I also had the genius idea of using a tank as our headboard for our bed. Which worked out fine till my Aro jumped in the middle of the night and landed on my face. Unfortunately my reaction besides screaming like a little girl included hurling my ex-wife from our bed in an attempt to fend off the wet attacker. Needless to say my nights where both lumpy and cold for a little while as I rode the midnight couch train to sleep town. Guess I should've waited longer after our anniversary to move the tank in the room, maybe she would've been more forgiving.

Then finally a break through, my ex-wife saw a Red Devil and fell in love; I finally found a way to get her into the hobby. Unfortunately that ended quickly when My Apurensis ate the Devil mere days after I bought it for her. I tried to explain that the Devil started it asked for it by trying to bully the Apu and that eating him was just the Apu letting the Devil know whose boss but she wanted to hear no words about it. All in all not so good helping her understand my fascination with hobby.

When my son was 2yrs old, he decided that I was sleeping in too late so he decided to yank the return line on the canister filer out! My daughter runs into the bedroom screaming that there was a very scary noise coming from the kitchen. I jumped out of bed, ran to see what it was and there was water everywhere. Half of the tank water was gone. It's a 75 gal. I quickly located where it was coming from and hooked it back up. By the time I got up, here was my wife standing behind me with her arms crossed. all she said was, your fish hobby is done! Eventually she agreed to let me keep it after lots of sucking up to do.
