Could everyone share your experiences. My aro will just NOT eat pellets. He hasn't eaten for about a week now.

Well the way i got my aro to take pellets was the eat or die method haha. The method name pretty much explained it all....eat or die. Although having pbass that hit pellets hard was useful in training him. I find that trainer fish are the easiest ways to get others to take pellets with the least amount of work.

I have 3 oscars that attack pellets like crazy! Just keep trying?

He should give in soon, i starved my aro for almost a month before he finally gave in haha it depends on the individual fish though. You can also try sneaking pellets into the food he eats normally or crushing pellets into powder and coating his normal food with it so he acquires a taste for the pellet although that method can get a bit messy

I purchased 2 black Arowanas that were both 14" and were 100% wild and fed live food. It took exactly 10 days after purchase for them to touch hikari carnisticks. You just gotta wait it out and don't give in with live or any other kinds of food.

Its very difficult sometimes. Having other tank mates that eat pellets will help a lot too.

I attempted to pellet train my aro like 4 times and failed.

Then all of sudden one day, it took pellets on its own w/o me even trying. Once i saw that, i completely stop giving him live foods/shrimp.

Just add tankmates like TFB, they readily accept pellets and stop feeding your aro with feeders... He will starve for a week and learn to eat pellets from the other fish... Or gut load ur feeders with pellets and feed him...

if you have other fishes in the tank that will take pellets will help, my flagtail takes pellets so my lei learns from it. I also make a shrimp based mixed with; fish sticks and massivors.

+1. Mine went in with 2 oscars much larger than him. He was only 6 inches when I had him. Left him until the next day to feed and noticed he went for an Oscar pellet. Later that day threw some hikari (same brand as I use for the Oscar pellets) carnivore sticks and away he went. I do feed him prawns and muscles too as a treat once a week which he seems to love but hasn't put him off. I would recommend not doing this though until he's had pellets for at least a week so that you don't worm yours off them.

Its been close to two weeks of starving and he still won't give in. Maybe I should change to Hikari pellets?
