hello fellow Festae keepers.

I have a 8" male and a 7" female. The male seemed to like her, but she is like still trying to adapt to the tank and, at the same time, shy of him.

Because he likes her in the begining and she dont like him so now he dont like her anymore and bites her for real as she comes near. And I dont think she ever did liked him.

Anyways. If you ever bonded a pair, how it it happen? Thanks!!!!!!

If your gonna force the issue use a divider so they can get acclimated too each other. Both Male and Female Festaes can and will destroy each other if ones not satisfied with the quality of it's counterpart. I've read of others even breeding their festae thru dividers to stay on the safe side. Mine were successful only thru natrual selection. I bought and raised a brood and let the male choose his mate from 5 females.

Haven't kept festae (would love to one day), but IME with other species, if two adult fish don't hit it off early, they just may not like each other. Using a divider is a good idea and I've had good experience with cutting a small hole to allow the female to go back and forth as she wants.

don't forget candles... :D

Mine were bonded when I got them. But I know someone that got some fry from me...grew them out together...and 2 started to show interest in each other so he moved them and they spawned. Bigger...I would say like the others have.

I do have a side question for yall. I am getting some larger ex C.Ornatus...0ne male and 2 females 7-9". I am going to try just putting all 3 in a larger tank and seeing if the male will pick one. If that doesnt work out and I have to use dividers would you keep all 3 in the same tank...male in the middle with female on each side? Or would you take one female out and try the divider...and putting the toher female in if they dont work out.

Im gonna try removing and re-introducing this month.

If that dont work, I'll do divider..

Yeah these are dangerous! The male kills. And he already tore her up when my back was turned. She was in perfect condition. Be ver watchful with these guys
