Hi, I was just wondering how central filtration systems worked?, is it like one big wet dry?

I also heard that there is a chance of spreading disease when using this type of filtration, why do pet stores use this instead of just using single filters is it the cost?, how much would a good size central filtration system cost?

yep.. its just one big wet/dry.. and yes.. if you connect all the tanks to one filter disease will spread though all of the tanks..

as for cost... all depends on how big and fancy you want to go...

X$- storage tub
X$- plumbing supplys
X$- filter media
X$- pump

They heavily UV the return water to reduce (eliminate?) the spread of disease.

That's my plan. 6 tanks on 1 filter. All 20 gallon long tanks, so 120 gallons. I'll use a 35 gallon wet/dry. 500 watts of heaters. 20 watt UV. Mag Drive 24 for return.

with good preventive care spreading disease shouldn't be much of an issue. It's always a small issue, but it shouldn't be a big one.
