How do fish get ick?

it's like the common cold to humans
normally their immune system keeps it at bay

cold water + stress + exposure to new fish = ICH

What confuses me about this is people say if you keep water conditions good you won't get ICK, but all fishes have it. So if you add in a fish with ick into a tank with good conditions, how does it spread?

keeping the water warm is your primary defense

the ich jumps on the fish and goes for a ride

stress
water conditions
and new inhabitants and so forth

answering shua71- i believe that having a new fish introduced will stress others somewhat. also fish aren't really immune to ich it just attachs on ( i believe) you gotta remember i'm not no ich-xpert

Well what I'm confused about is that i've heard all fish have ick, it just takes bad conditions to activate them. But if you introduce a new fish with ick into an aquarium with good conditions, why does it pass onto other fishes?
