hey guy's i've got a male and female bichir in a 125 gallon tank with plenty of places to hide and would really like to know how to get the female to breed the male is trying really hard but she just wont let him lock how do i fix this?

Breeding Bichirs (for some species, hasn't been done) in aquariums isn't that common. If you have a Delhizi, the spawning trigger is not quite known, so just be patient and make sure the water quality is superb, frequent water changes etc. If you have a more common Senegal Bichir again, water conditions extremely good, ph maybe slightly acidic, soft water. Once you achieve this, lower the temperature on your heater, and make sure you have bushy plants, If the male is chasing the female then she is probably looking for a suitable breeding site. Use bushy plants and fine-leaved plants and make sure to remove the parents because the fry and eggs readily!

Actually all species of bichir HAS been breed already.
What kind of bichirs are you intending to breed OP?

i have a male a female common bichir and he is chasing the female and bumping his head on her but every time he trys to lock on to her she pulls away. she has plenty of hiding places in the tank but i also have an 8'' dragon goby 2 small catfish 3 cory cats a very small oscar a jack dempsy and a rubber lipped pleco in a 125 gallon tank with the bichirs could that possibly be the reason she will not breed?
