How do I breed plecos?

Just as the title says. Also, how does the L-140 or numbers work? I'm a beginner so be nice! One more thing, best pleco to start with? Best pleco supplier in the UK or HK? Pls help really confused and bewildered.

I myself have never breed plecos but seems like all you need to do to breed bushy nose is add water . Some of the other types are more tricky so you may want to start with bushy nose pleco. Hope this was of some help.

If you want to breed Ancistrus (Bristlnose) which is what I assume you mean I'd do a 24"x12" 15 gallon tank with 1 male and 2 females with a few tight caves for the male to guard fry in. After time they should be breeding no problem.

The "common" Ancistrus spawn in pretty much any water. For the next species you progress to, your best options will depend on your water. If you have harder water, you probably want to go with tank-raised specimens of fish that are documented to spawn in harder water. If you have soft water a lot of the wild type ancistrus or hypancistrus will do well.
