I'm thinking of madtoms, darters, chubs, etc. But I hate going fishing only to catch 8darters at most if im lucky.(there's alot of em it's just a pain to catch). Any easy tips to catch all these fish in larger numbers in one or two tries? I tried that stupid 2 liter coke minnow trap catches nothing. not even those minnows!

Maybe try a store boughtminnow catcher. Thatswhat we used at my cottage to catch live bait for fishing. Sometimes you'll get the odd crayfish in there too. You could probably find one at your local bait and tackle shop.
Try a cast net. Another option is positioning your dip net immediately downstream from some rocks then lifting up said rocks; the fish underneath will go into the net.
Minnow traps are kinda bulky which feels annoying to carry. If they were collapsable it'd be easier. I'd try helpers but most of my friends are pansies and hate getting wet in pond water or anything not pool based or shower. I may have to try a trap. But i'm also afraid somebody will come and either steal my fish or the trap. Not being paranoid though. One time I left my bucket there with a huge catch and it had a lid. A few minutes later I see some guys messing with the fish inside. I got really peeved and almost decked one of the fellas... (they were tormenting the fish I caught). That fish was going in my old pond(where I used to live). I'm not sure how to hide a trap well that nobody will find it but me.
@CJM: I may use the seine net, as well as the traps.
@brich: I will try that. Then I can do something to the location that will stick out for my eyes(I like to scan around when I fish anyways before I fish. SO Im good at finding small details some may end up missing). Like I could put something around the area that won't draw peoples attention(or bore them). But then it means I know I'm near the net and all I have to do is just look around the edge of the water.
I would love to catch madtom catfish, daces, chubs, etc. But I'm hoping that if I do catch madtoms I could breed them because for all I know they could already be old and die any year or month. Like I caught a 11 inch chub the other day*I measured it* and It's in one of my tanks and I'm studying it. What it likes, what it hates. What irritates it. What makes it bite. Etc.
Anywho. I was wondering what kind of fish can I catch with flyfishing gear? will catching a fish by hook be bad to keep in aquariums? ( I kinda catch my chubs that way-- well the bigger ones).

I have had luck by wading upriver. when I spot a fish i sweep at them with a fish landing net. it works best on darters and other bottom fish. at night you might get catfish
If you clip off the barbs and the fish doesn take the hook to far in you'll be fine
