How do I cool down my tank?

Ive had my 300 running for a lil over a week (still cycling). The hottest my tank got was 88* and Im kind of worried as I dont know if my Goliath would like that. Even at that... August is right around the corner and Im sure it will get hotter. I have my tank along a wall that the sun does not hit on the exterior and I have 2 40watt 4' bulbs that I run from 10am-10pm (ganna change the timer to 4pm-10pm tonight).

Any ways you guys cool down your Freshwater tanks?

I would suspect that a good chunk of your heat is coming from your pumps. You can always do what the saltys do and through on a chiller. Basically your running your water through the fridge before sending it out to the tank.

buy a chiller, but they are expensive...especially for a 300

I just need it dropped about 3* and Ill be happy
By the way, I dont have my heater hooked up

No A/C in the house
Thats the next construction project (in a few yrs, in the last week of complete re-model right now)

try doing what people recommended for John. Use 2 liter soda bottles, fill them up with water and freeze them. After throw them in your sump and that should cool down your tank a bit during the day.

I have 1 light that is 2' and it has a fan. The light is on a timer (aside from the 4' lights) and I only have that one on from 6-9pm but it has a fan that I keep on 24/7

another thing (dont know if it has an effect on it thou)... I have a pump that breaks the surface and makes air bubbles once it hits the water and it has a 2'+ stream of air. Do you think this might be heating up my tank or cooling it down? Ill try to slam a pic tomorrow of my well aerated tank (atleast I think so)

no, I meant for you to run a fan the blwos directly accross the water surface.

The fan on the light it only to cool the bulbs and ballast

Kinda when you're drinking hot coffee, you blow through the surface then you take a sip.
