i have a bunch of different foot long cichlids,
how do i feed them frozen blood worms?
and how do i feed them frozen mysis shrimp?
dumn question i know but i want them all to eat and there in these frozen packs i dont know what to do.
thanks

i would find a different food. blood worms and misis shrimp for such large cichlids isnt really suitable.

I would try prawns, earthworms, meal worms, silversides etc. Besides a pellet as a staple.

but since you already have the food. Just drop in frozen chunks and they should go for it. (its fine to just drop it in as is)

Though it will be awfully messy

You can certainly feed small foods to large fish. Even my biggest fish eat mysis just fine. It's not unlike the normal grazing they'd do in the wild. Some large piscivores may not ever catch on, but even my huge dovii eats mysis.

Put frozen food into a cup of room temp water until it thaws. Pour off most of the water and add to the tank. An easy thing to do is to use a brine shrimp net to strain out the food from the water.

I agree and disagree with Tigger.. I mean Ang.

I feed my cichlids frozen bloodworm all the time. I personally scoop out some tank water into a cup and drop a few cubes in and swish it about till they have separated then pour it all back in.
The reason I do this is if i just dropped a frozen cube in one of my Oscars would gulp it in one, and when melted all the fish get some and my spiny eel gets a chance. Peeled prawns go down well also!

This is helpful to me because I have a spiny eel and I have been putting just the frozen blocks in and I am not sure if he gets any.

Would freeze dried bloodworms or tubifex worms be easier/cheaper?

yeah it really does help as the bloodworm just go everywhere round the tank which means the eel just needs to poke his head out and grab what passes.

I have used freeze dried but the ones I got floated like flake so any bottom feeders went hungry. Apparently freeze dried keeps more goodness so that is a plus.

I used to put some extra blocks in once my two O's mouths were full.

That way the others would a bit of a chance as well ;)
