Well then...I have heard this is very difficult to do fo rthese kind of fish. You can try a method we had success with though. Bring the gar to the top by trying some small crickets. They are live food so they may attract him. Once he eats off the surface put some krill in place of the cricket. Hopefully He will start to take it. It may take a while and he may spit it out, but keep trying and be consistent. Good luck though.....
What I did was to separate the bugger from the rest and starve it for a few days. Then you can start with the food conversion. Keep trying and be persistent. Effort will be paid off.

A common name does not make the fish nor does it make it relivent to a subject under "Ancient fish". To the real fan of these fish all this Needle fish and Pike characin stuff is just a bunch of spam...
