My CK only seems to eat sinking carnavore pellets, iso shrimp pellets and tetramin "the rich mix" tablets which are pretty damn expensive but I dont mind. What can I do to feed my CK any floating pellets. I got tons of hikari food sticks, chiclid gold/staple and FD shrimp. I would like to use all this and not have to get sinking pellet just for my CK and CL's. My CL's dont eat even come close to how much my CK chomps down. I know if I dont do something soon enough it's gunna get expensive.:(

starve him for a few days then give him the pellets, if that doesnt work then try waving the hikari food sticks around so they look like theyre alive.

He really doesnt come out of his hollow log that often. When he does it looks like hes searching on the ground and only seems to pay attention to the surface when he wants to gulp some air.

It'll eventually recognize that whatever is floating up there is edible.

ck's aren't surface feeders. I feed mine a mix of sinking cichlid pellets (only because I have too) and Purina Game Fish Chow. The PGFC is floating pellets but I have fifty pounds of it...so somebody has to eat it and it aint gonna be me.

btw, my ck's will eat at the surface but they really hate it. They will nearly starve rather than eat floating food. The sinking cichlid pellets are tiny granuals and my knives are all around a foot long. Still they would rather peck at the sinking pellets rather than get a fast meal at the surface.

Nice, thank for the insight! :D

Sounds much easier to go for the sinking pellets.

None of my CKs (past or present) has had any problems coming up to feed at the surface.
