how do i get my rtg,gar and dat to eat more things?

Hi everyone,ive had my rtg for a few months now and i cant seem to get him to eat anything but mealworms or crickets?
Ive tried starving him for about two and a half days but he just wont eat anything else.

Ive tried whitebait,aro pellets,frozen prawns,the prawns he is really not interested in at all,also he doesnt try to eat anything that i put in for the geos which is basically anything.

Any ideas?

Also my dat doesnt like much other than bloodworm,any ideas again,by the way hes in a 200l tank with my 8.5" gar which is fussy too and a small plec

try starving him for up to 3 weeks.. but throw in his new diet after the first week.. it may just eat it.. but if not, continue starving him until he gives up..Ü

just stop feeding the meal worms and criks and feed the rest of the tank frozen prawn dont defrost it throw them in frozen

Bump the temperature up to about 83-84. That will help as well.

Hi guys thanks for the replies,i put 2 and a half days just incase someone moaned at me for starving my aro it was more like 3 and a half but obviously still not enough.

Do i have to do the same wth the gar and dat and how long for?

Hey I am wondering if its bad for the aro to eat the frozen mp instead of having it defrost ?

if you brake the prawn into small enought bits they defrost very fast in the tank water it also makes them float a bit longer i have been feeding my whole tank with frozen prawn for over 15yrs never had any problems

as for feeding the aro just feed the tank like normal with very small bits of prawn as long as you have other fish eatting the prawn it wont take long before the aro eats it

i wouldnt give in and feed meal worms again for 1 month

When I bought my RTG he was only eating shrimp and prawns. Due to the fact :I work out of town ,and my wife is stuck taking care of my fish,and she has no time for "special needs fish" because we have 2 children under the age of 5, I wanted mine to eat a high quality pellet. He is 17" long and it took 24 days before he ate the pellets. Be patient, I'm sure he'll eat other foods a lot quicker than mine ate pellets.
